Lord how do i trust you
So, each day we must consciously lay aside our own plans and expectations—and surrender to His plans. Surrendering to God begins with our lips and our thoughts. We need more than a commitment to depend on Him; we need to cry out to Him to show that dependence.
When we pray, we admit that His ways are higher than ours. In fact, the Bible promises that when we reach out to Him in prayer, He hears us:. But in order for that to work, we have to….
So much in this world can clutter up our relationship with God. John, the writer of the fourth gospel, describes them as the desires of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes, and the pride in our lives 1 John In other words, our blessings can easily become our stumbling blocks when we think of them as what we deserve or what we need to be happy.
Instead, life works best when we remember the true source of our blessings—God—and focus on the things that please Him:. Sometimes, the only way to live the life God wants us to live is by separating ourselves from the bad influences that keep dragging us down. That works the best when we start pursuing something else in their place:.
Is that easy? Not at all. Fleeing from the evil desires that pull at us means spending a lot of time crying out to God and leaning on Him. But our Creator promises to honor our commitment to Him when we shun evil:. When we pursue Him, we find life—abundant life. Instead, it means we have to make a serious change:. When something good happens, we want to congratulate ourselves with a reward. When something bad happens, we want to console ourselves or find someone to blame.
And when it comes to money, the struggle is even harder. Handing over the first part of our paycheck takes a huge amount of faith, after all. The Bible is our rule book for living and our instructions in righteousness. Remember the faith chapter, Hebrews 11? You simply have to search and be open and willing to accept His Word for the truth.
Then put your faith to work. From there, I dig into my Bible and study those scriptures out. There are some really great Bible studies available too. If you have cause for worry, use the scripture cards and affirmation cards from the Joyful Living through Faith and Prayer kit around the house to remind you, or click on the Inspirational Resources page for a free download.
Simply cut them out and hang them in places that will help you. For instance, put them in the bathroom, near your dresser, places you hang out in your home. I would even put some in your car. I like to say, just change the channel. Which will you choose? I know, I know, we all want to be in control. But sometimes we run into challenges in our lives. When it comes down to a situation where you are wondering how to have faith in God in difficult times, then you have to let go and let God take over.
The chorus of the song talks about not being able to do things on her own. Part of letting go is trusting God in all circumstances. Give it to God completely. But the more faith you put in the Creator of this universe, the easier it gets. Just remember, if He can create this world, the oceans, the trees and human beings, with all the intricacies that are involved in us, then He can handle your problem.
Open your heart and mind to receiving His Word and understanding the truth. Listen to the Lord when He convicts you of sin. You may feel convictions to call a friend who is sick, or who need you to share the Gospel.
Those convictions are the Holy Spirit guiding you. Have you ever heard of a sin of omission? Well, not following those convictions is a sin as well. So listen to the Lord through His Word. Listen when you pray. Stop to hear what the Lord has to say. And listen when you feel those nudges of which direction you should go. All that listening is helping you learn how to trust God completely. What does it mean to follow God?
Following God, first of all means to take that first step and trust Him with your eternal life. From there, follow Him with a water immersion baptism as you join a true local New Testament church.
The church is where you can learn all about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the church is to follow the Great Commission as Jesus instructs us here:. Matthew Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
In other words, we are to share the Gospel, baptize new followers and teach them to follow God and just how to do that. Lastly, in order to follow God you have to have a relationship with Him. Talk to Him in prayer. Hang out with His people. These would be your church family and other Christians. Avoid worldly activities, which through trusting God you will find the task a whole lot easier.
And serve God and His people by sharing the Gospel with others and loving your neighbor the way that Jesus loves everybody. Easy peasy, right? All it takes is a bit of faith and willingness. Only Jesus was perfect. But I believe that every effort counts. In the last paragraph I mentioned that nobody is perfect, except for Jesus. However, we can do our best. Maybe you watched an inappropriate TV show. First of all, according to God, there are no little sins.
Sin is sin. You may disagree. Open your Bible to see what it says. James For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For the more difficult sins, remember what I said earlier.
You are not in control. Why try and do battle with the devil on your own? What does that look like? Every time that desire hits, you could pray and let the Lord convict your heart, read your Bible, call a Christian friend, reach out and do something kind for someone else to take your mind off of the craving. Here are some ideas for spreading positivity. I have found 15 remarkable attributes of God in this article from Bible Study Tools. This is one incredible read that will impress upon you just how great our Heavenly Father is.
To give you some idea of his attributes, according to this article, God is infinite, self-sufficient and never changes. He is wise, faithful, good and just. God is also merciful, gracious, loving, holy and glorious. He is all things to everyone, everywhere.
So with that in mind, trusting God completely is a no-brainer. We know that without faith, it is impossible to please God. But how do we increase our faith? By asking, of course! This is a regular prayer of mine. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Faith in your prayer is important. You have to believe that God will answer your prayers. In this case, you have to believe that God will increase your faith.
Remember that your relationship with God grows through conversation. If you only talked all day to your spouse without listening to their replies, would that be a conversation?
Not at all! A conversation is a 2-way talk. While you pray, take time to listen. Pay attention! This stands for Adoration, which is giving God praise for who He is. Confession is necessary to remove the sin in your life. Remember that God cannot look on sin, so confession applies the perfect blood of Christ to your heart so you can talk with the Lord. Supplication is where you go before the throne of God in petition for the needs of others. Have you started a war binder yet?

In those situations, it might be easier to look back and see where God was working in your life in times past. Grab onto those memories and trust God to get you through the current struggles too. During our most difficult times, those times are when God is refining and shaping us. Be still and trust in the Lord. Allow Him to calm the storm in your heart and just trust. God is in control.
Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path. This is important. This is a promise for those who have a passion for the Lord and His Kingdom. This is a promise for those who seek to glorify God above all.
This is a promise for those who struggle with such a thing. This is a promise for those who are going to wrestle with God no matter what it takes. This is not a promise for those who want to glorify self, who want to seek riches, who want to be well known, who want to have a big ministry.
This promise is for the Lord and His glory and if your heart is for that, then you can trust that God will fulfill this promise. Get alone with Him and get to know Him intimately. Set your heart on knowing Him. Also, you have to get to know Him in His Word daily. You will notice that many godly men in Scripture were put in tougher situations than us, but God delivered them. God can fix anything. Readjust your spiritual life today! Write down your prayers in a prayer journal and write down every time God has answered a prayer as a reminder of His faithfulness.
Abraham is a great example of trusting God. First, he left his family and country and followed the call of God into the unknown, trusting God when He said a great nation would come from him, that all families on earth would be blessed through him, and that God had a special land for his descendants. Genesis 13 and 15 He trusted God even though his wife Sarah had been unable to conceive, and by the time they had the promised son, Abraham was and Sarah 90 years old!
Genesis , 21 Abraham trusted God when He told him to sacrifice Isaac, the promised child, saying that God would provide a sheep and God did!
Genesis The book of Ruth is another story of taking refuge in God and trusting Him for provision. They had a son who was the ancestor of David and Jesus. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted God when commanded by the king to bow down and worship the great golden statue.
Even though they knew the consequence was the fiery furnace, they refused to worship the idol. They did get thrown into the furnace, but the fire did not touch them. Daniel 3. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.
There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.
Regardless of the good and bad things that come your way, God is always trustworthy in every situation. God will never let you down. He is always faithful and consistent and worthy of your confidence. You are always better off trusting God than relying on anything or anyone else. Trust Him! Allow Him to show Himself strong in your life!

The Lord reminded me that He is in control. Sometimes we need to be still before the Lord so we can listen to Him speak truth in our lives. I will definitely be praying for you. I saw you wrote this article a few months ago. However, it came up in my mailbox today, a day where a trial was set before me and I was thinking to myself why must this happen, has God forgotten me. Thanking the Lord that He is calling me back and knowing I can still call and trust the Lord Almighty.
Thanks for your openness. Though we try to be we fall short. However, we can have confidence that God is not like us. He remains faithful. I encourage you to stay in the Word. That is how God is going to speak to you. If He was faithful then, you can trust that He will be faithful now. He will not abandon you. Continually cry out for more of His presence as well. Seek His face in prayer day and night. The great thing about our God is that, not only does He see our tears but He collects them as well.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. He knows and intimately understands what you are going through. He will prove to be faithful in the end. Never felt so alone, broke, and helpless to change. Yet I know my redeemer the Lord Jesus lives and will rescue me. God directed me to this message. We may not see how He is going to provide, but God always makes a way. He knows how to deliver you from what you are going through. He knows how to help you. Thank you so much for your encouraging message. Specifically in the way that I should trust in the Lord with all my heart, soul, and strength.
Thank you for this article. I really value the in depth descriptions and going into the deeper meanings of things. I have been through so many losses, rejections, and painful disappointments, especially lately, and all one after another.
I want to want to trust God and believe in His goodness. I just have a few questions regarding trust. What does trust feel like? Does trust have anything to do with feelings?
Can a person be trusting in God and following His plan, but still feel scared? What if that person has Depression and Anxiety disorders? What will trust be like for that person? Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully respond to this. Thank you so much for commenting. You are not alone in this and you have asked some great questions. We know that in the end He is faithful. To trust in God is to know that you are loved and cared for. Trust feels like feeling at home. Many men and women in Scripture trusted God but were still afraid.
When it comes to depression and anxiety many people struggle with these things.
