How fast will a cb750 go
Seems to have less torque the higher I shift. Perhaps it could be the timing advance? I don't know where to look first or how to diagnose this. I'm in the scooter lane fellas, please help!
So the bike has plenty of power, it's just revving way too high without the accompanying speed? A couple options are make sure all plugs are firing by visually inspecting spark then misting a little water on the head pipes while the engine is at rpm. If that is OK then maybe cam timing. Sonreir said:. Click to expand Do the revs stay steady with the acceleration? If you rev it all the way up to 8K or so does the bike accelerate steady up to it's max speed for that gear? If you let off the throttle does the bike decel steady as well?
Joseph New York said:. When she was all back together after the wreck, it had one cylinder not firing, but I remedied it and the last test showed all 4 firing. But it's been a few weeks and I'll check the plugs and take her temperatures with my IR gun to rule it out.
I feel though if was running on less than 4, then it wouldn't go through the gears as fast, no? I've had non-firing cylinders on my other bikes and it would have a hard time pushing the higher gears.
Seems to be the opposite effect here. But it still whistled to a top speed of about mph kph , handled reasonably well and sold in huge numbers worldwide.
The Honda actually lost some performance, as its engine was detuned to reduce emissions. In the original version of the CB was released. The bike had louvred side panels, all-cable throttles, a tiny seat hump and plastic instrument lenses. The version had beam-operated throttles, restyled airbox and oil tank with new emblems. The bike also received the white tank lettering and the black front brake caliper. The bike got improved front fork and five-way adjustable shocks.
The K3 also features new tank graphics, restricted air intake, front disc water guard and running lights in indicators. Only three vertical braces in cylinder head side fins. Plainer silencers, 17in rear wheel width wider tire, 0-ring chain and flush fuel filter also were added that year.
In its final year of production the bike remained the same besides the two-tier seat and some minor engine tweaks. Honda broke the mold and this was a bike for enthusiasts- technically if only by a month the second true modern Superbike behind the Triumph Trident aka BSA Rocket 3.
The CB was the first modern four cylinder machine from a mainstream manufacturer. Other novel features included, an electric starter and an overhead camshaft.
I am not percent sure that my old 74 was stock. I just assumed it was, but it may have had some sprocket changes. It did have a header on it. I do believe the speedo was accurate and am percent sure of the mph as I was on the bike. I would try this one out my 76 but I am just trying to keep a lot more respect for it then I did back in the old days.
I would run them hard back in the day never looking at the tach, just listening to the exhaust and as long as it was pulling I had the hammer down. Been around them and riding before I could hold them up. Anyone that thinks these things will only do mph is crazy.
Hey SBC If you want, I could make you a nice color copy for reference as to the factory original configuration. Posts: 29, Around a hundred for a lot of them that arent running crisp. I doubt that you got over with a 74 with just a pipe.. I knew a guy with a Rickman Kaw that was always talking about doing ! Then we went for a ride, I asked him how fast we were going.
He said mph.. I said my bike wont go that fast!.. Canada My next bike will be a.. Green, had it for 3 decades!! Lost quite a few CB 's along the way. No I didn't buy his speedo, but close as my name is Johnny lol. I don't know if it had aftermarket coils, but it did have the stock airbox on it. That was about and the bike would have only been 3 years old tops.
I really don't know for sure, but I didn't think the motor had been gone through. If I ever see the previous owner I will try and remember to ask him. I grew up here and some of my old buddies are still around. I know these old bikes are not as fast as the modern crotch rockets. Still slow off the line, but runs much better, and will for sure keep up with most modern cruisers once at speed.
Thanks Guys!!! I'd take a look at that rear sprock, too, like Killer said. If you want more on the low end, that'll give it to ya. A little late, but I wanted to add my. I'm riding a '77 CBA. Finally got it all dialed in. Was riding with some good friends yesterday on HWY Thats when the CB shows its stuff. The guys I was riding with, one on a stock and one on a I think? When they caught up with me on the next exit I got my respect from the Harley guys.
Sure, I can only get 35 miles out of a full tank of gas, but thats a chopper fer ya! My '78 K keeps up with an '03 all day every day, no holds barred. That is all. Edit: that wasn't all.
I can also get about miles out of one 5 gallon tank of gas. Are 's really dogs in the low end?! I've got twin 36mm mikuni carb setup on my bike. I never rode it with the stock carb setup, But the bike rips down low and up top.
They're supposed to be around 4. That's right around a Sporty.
